"It's not you, It's me..."
Super Mom Writes is having a contest. The rules I must start my story with the sentence "It's not you, it's me..."
So this what I came up with. It was fun.
"It's not you, it's me, Markey.” I gave him my most winning smile, hoping he would buy this load of horse manure I was throwing at him.
Of course it was him. He had to of known his obsessive compulsive, uncompromising personality was going to drive me away. That peg leg I found so adorable at first didn’t help his case, either. What I wouldn’t give for a carpeted house around three AM these days.
What had happened to us? We used to be so adorable. The beautiful Model dating the shy but good looking crippled guy. My popularity had sky rocketed, oh what a martyr I was.
He put his strong hands through his Sunkist blond hair and then closed those amazing golden brown eyes that matched his tan surfer skin. (I still didn’t know how a boy could surf with one foot but not learn how to use that giggle muscle and try to lighten up a little.)
“Its not you its me. Really? I could of written a better line for you!” He said, sneering at me. His perfectly white row of teeth grinding together. It was painfully obvious that I was attracted to him, one footed and all.
“Of course you could, you can do everything better, expect walk maybe.” Take that, Mr. Perfect!
“Oh, funny.” He stood up and with that slight limp walked to the window that hung next to my grandmothers old rocking chair and sighed.
“I guess I cant blame you for being angry with me.” He said it, but I couldn’t believe it. Where was my tape recorder? Perhaps I’d fallen asleep and dreamed some beautiful dream where I was actually right.
“Did you just say you don’t blame me?”
“I said I cant blame you, but I still do.” He turned his marvelous face to mine and gave me a half smile that made my knees give a little shudder of pleasure. “I’m just trying to figure out why its so hard to just put the tooth paste cap back on the tooth past tube.”
Go enter. What else are you doing right now?

Ooh, this was really interesting to read. I have mixed feeling about both characters!
If I were to write an actual story about these two, I have a feeling I would fall in love with that one footed boy.
I just know it.
